So long GameFace

As the old saying goes ‘all good things must come to an end’ or in this case they evolve (not unlike television Pokémon).

The last edition of GameFace to air in the UK will be going out this weekend and what a grand ride it has been. I’ve been proud to be part of this show from its infancy; it outlasted its competitors and not even Bravo closing down got in the way as we found a new home on Challenge. It's been a pretty successful run and we did it all without Dominic Diamond! So to bid this gem of a gaming show a fond farewell, here are ten things you may or may not know about GameFace. See you on The Blurb!

  1. The first episode of GameFace was built on the idea of a magazine format and we had a phone-in competition to give away a Gold-plated PS3 – remember that?

  2. The initial discussion for GameFace was to have it as a show hosted in the free to play game Second Life.

  3. The first Ginx crew was pretty small. Games were reviewed by Adam Terry and I, the show was produced by Nick Hopkins and edited by Max Williams, all overseen by Ginx founder Udi Shapira.

  4. There were initially six designs for segments in GameFace – Review, Easy Steps, Facts, Top 5, Versus and the ‘Super review’ an amalgamation of the rest.

  5. The introduction of new segment types allowed us to get more out of our games. We went a little overboard with Just Cause 2, eventually making a record breaking 19 segments in total (oops – some still have not aired).

  6. As GameFace and Ginx expanded it became necessary to hire in new reviewers. So far eight successful applicants have turned up at the office, been given a game to review and have never been heard of again.

  7. Talking of fresh talent, the Ginx Team was given a boost from reviewer Sam Conisbee who impressed us by writing 14 scripts in one day (still a record) and Editor Luke Crockett, whose first GameFace segment was for Quantum of Solace.

  8. Julia Hardy was whittled down from over five thousand applicants. Discuss.

  9. Original titles for the show were 'Couch Arcade' and 'Next Level'.

  10. The following voice-over talents have all graced GameFace; Julia Hardy, Anthony Richardson, Adam Savage, Neil Gorton, Nick Hopkins, Rebecca Wood, Aoife Wilson and Neil Cole.

The Blurb will air in UK every Saturday at Midnight on Challenge from June 11th, replacing GameFace and Ginx Files.

Very sad to see GameFace go

Very sad to see GameFace go *big sad face* :(
but happy to give The Blurb a big welcoming embrace in to my life!! :D
Julia Hardy was whittled down from over five thousand applicants… Well that doesn't surprise me one bit!! listening to Julia talk with intelligence & passion on what ever subject she is ranting about really impressed me, & I'm not easily impressed at all. Wouldn't of matters if julia was whittled down from five million applicants Ginx couldn't wished to found a better presenter than Ms Hardy.

see ya gameface, hello the

see ya gameface, hello the blurb,
but what does this mean for the 24/7 channel, why would sky bother airing the blurb on its own if they was thinking of airing the full ginx channel, unless there not willing to commit straight away, maybe there waiting to see how well the blurb is received, i'm unsure my self as i said before, the blurb is great but not on its own, i don't think there's quite enough raw gaming involved as a stand alone show, but from the little iv'e seen so far i like it, so you will get my support and ill be watching every week, thanks ginx team (but plzzzzz get sky to take your full channel)
